How to reset your starter Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
To reset your starter Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you need to save the game before you choose your starter Pokemon.
After you’ve saved the game, choose a starter Pokemon and select “Yes” to give it a nickname.
In the nickname creation screen, you’ll be able to see your Pokemon’s gender.
If you want to change its gender, select the home button, close the game, and reopen it.
When you reopen the game, choose the starter Pokemon again and its gender will be rerolled.
Repeat the process until you get the gender that you want.
Here’s the full process to reset your starter Pokemon (reroll its gender):
- Save the game before you choose your starter Pokemon.
- Choose a starter Pokemon and select “Yes” to give it a nickname.
- You can see your Pokemon’s gender in the nickname creation screen.
- To reroll its gender, select the home button, close the game, and reopen it.
- Choose the starter Pokemon again and its gender will be rerolled.
- Repeat the process until you get the desired gender.
Do note that the gender rerolls percentages for all three starter Pokemon are 87.5% male and 12.5% female.
Hence, if you want to get a female starter Pokemon, it will take more rerolls.
You can change the nature of your starter Pokemon using Nature Mints later on in the game, so it doesn’t really matter in the beginning.
